Dear Future Homeowner,
Welcome to the Montrose Park neighborhood. There is a tranquility to this charming area and yet just steps away from everything you could need, it certainly has been ideal for our little family. We want to share some of our favorite things about it here.
Morning and evening walks through the neighborhood of historic homes, and parks were a treat which allowed us to connect before school or after a busy day. Chatting with neighbors and listening to live music. Within walking distance also is Jackie & Son, one of the best cafes in all of New Jersey. Just down the road from Jackie’s is Sonny’s Bagels, an archetypical New Jersey bagel shop. The bagels are truly special, but what puts Sonny’s over the top is their smoked salmon. One has to mention the proximity to the New York train too. It’s a 10-minute downhill walk to the station, and the jitney stop is just a few yards away from the house. It provided an easy commute for me.
Our backyard has been a true oasis for us, especially during this unprecedented time. We have taken advantage of our canopy of trees and generous yard for many a cookout, outdoor party, and backyard tent camping.
When we’ve desired even more nature, it’s a short drive to South Mountain Reserve, where we’ve spent many hours exploring the long trails, multiple waterfalls, dog park, and the wonderful Regatta Playground with our kids. The Turtleback Zoo there is a real gem.
And we’ve loved being able to take the short drive to Maplewood—you’d be hardpressed to find a more charming downtown. Our children loved attending the elementary schools of the SOMA School District. Marshall Elementary is essentially next door, which was a tremendous convenience during the school year.
Our home has provided us ample space for play, relaxation and work. We’ll miss this truly special and unique neighborhood, but we’re happy to be able to pass the home to another family to make their memories now.Warmly,
The Current Homeowners
