Dear Future Homeowners,

We would love to share with you some of the wonderful things we have enjoyed while living at 327 Tichenor Ave. When we found this home about five years ago we knew it was the one for us pretty quickly.

The wonderful thing about this home is the charm it’s maintained without sacrificing modern amenities and comfort. For a home that is nearly one-hundred years old there is beautiful history and architectural finished throughout the home. We have worked to maintain and restore as much of the original features and charm as possible.

One of our favorite things is the beautiful light that the home gets in every room. In every season the house stays light and open. Many of the wide windows have original panes and proportions which add character throughout the home. Sturdy columns and hardwood oak and heartwood pine floors are throughout the home. The entry way in our center front colonial home is simultaneously grand and cozy. The generous-sized rooms on the first floor give way to a comfortable flow for living with young children and entertaining family and friends. We have hosted many holidays in our large kitchen and dining room and love to put together summer barbecues on our deck and spacious fenced-in backyard.

Both the playroom and basement have been lovely surprises in their usefulness. With young children we’ve been able to give them their own space without sacrificing style or comfort in our main living spaces. The second and third floors in the home feature generous rooms with spacious closets. The large footprint of the second floor bathroom radiates calm and luxuriousness. The third floor in the home is the perfect accommodations for guests or an au pair with a large bedroom and private bathroom.

It is a running debate in our family to pick which season in South Orange is our favorite. The Fall is hard to beat with the beautiful changing of colors and access to hikes at South Mountain Reservation, but the Spring here is magical with all of the blooming Magnolia and Cherry Trees. And our summers we spend at the South Orange Pool or warm evening out on Floods Hill picnicking before the live performances.

We will sorely miss the community in SOMA. It’s a community that values inclusiveness and kindness. These values are reflected in the pre-schools and public schools our children attend. At Clinton Elementary School, our kids get a community school with attentive and creative teachers and wonderful extracurriculars. It’s a really easy life for families with lots of outdoor activities nearby and wonderful town events.

The access we have to the South Orange Train Station was a primary reason to move to this location. The ten minute walk or quick jitney ride makes commuting to the city easy and convenient.
