WHAT DO THE OWNERS HAVE TO SAY?

Dear Future Homeowners,

I will always remember pulling my car into my driveway at 25 Washington Park for the first time and looking up at the house my wife and I had just bought. I couldn’t believe it was ours. What had we done to deserve this house. It was in the perfect town. It was on the perfect street, and it was next to a babbling brook (really, a babbling brook). It was like a fairy tale, except it was real. And then I started living in it and somehow, things got better. I loved the way the sun streamed through the windows in the front of the house in the mornings. And when we built a deck in the back, I loved the way it was shady in the late afternoon. That deck was the destination for family barbeques and our children’s birthday parties and some really bad improv theatre. Meanwhile, the backyard became a place for epic basketball, soccer and whiffle ball games and for a garden that grew tomatoes, basil, cucumbers and lettuce. There were great and not so great meals in the kitchen, Karaoke parties in the family room, ping pong tournaments in the basement, bed time stories in the bed rooms and on cold nights, fires in the fireplace. The house had truly become a home.

As for living in the town of Maplewood, we have savored our time here. The town is a haven for eclectic and inclusive people. Everyone in my family has made life long friends and learned to accept and embrace people for who they are. And when it comes to location, you are only a 30-minute train ride from the city, but when you step off the 6:08 in the evening, its as if you have been whisked away to another world.

Now, its 26 years later, and I ride my bike into my driveway. And I still can’t believe how lucky my family has been to have lived here. So, while it makes us very sad to leave, it is also comforting to know that another family will get the opportunity for the experience of a lifetime.

Warmly,

The Current Homeowners
