THE GHOSTS OF GHASTLY MANOR

 

January 6, 2018     7:30 PM – 9:30 PM

A Maplewood tradition! Suburban Legend presents our sixth annual British panto: “The Ghosts of Ghastly Manor.” Fun, silly, musical theater for the whole family. Lots of audience participation, songs and dancing. Ticket proceeds go to two charitable causes in New Jersey: St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center and Bridges Outreach.

Winter KinderConcert

Maplewood Garden Club Presents ‘The Pen & the Trowel’

January 8, 2018     7:30 PM until 8:30 PM

Explore the writing-gardening connection on Monday, January 8, at 7:30 pm at Maplewood Memorial Library, 51 Baker Street, Maplewood, when the Maplewood Garden Club hosts Marta McDowell. Marta teaches landscape history and horticulture at the New York Botanical Garden and lectures widely. For years she has been interested in writers who garden and whose horticultural interests have changed her planting beds as well as her bookshelves. During her presentation, Marta will examine the writing-gardening connection, starting with Mark Twain and connecting authors ranging from Henry David Thoreau, Louisa May Alcott, and Beatrix Potter.

WINTER OPEN HOUSE AT THE MONTESSORI CHILDREN’S ACADEMY (MCA)

Join us at the Short Hills campus of The Montessori Children’s Academy (MCA) located at 200 Hartshorn Drive (behind Community Congregational Church) for an Open House on Saturday, January 6, 2018 from 9-11AM. At our Winter Open House, you can discover the benefits of a Montessori education for your child. Our Campus Director and Montessori Certified Head Teachers will be available to speak with you about MCA’s Early Childhood programs and flexible scheduling options for children ages 2 ½ – Kindergarten, as well as to answer any questions you may have about the Montessori philosophy.
